Cloaker illo for Paizo by MichaelJaecks Cloaker illo for Paizo by MichaelJaecks
This is a chapter opener for Paizo Publishing's "Dungeon Denizens Revisited." Cloakers actually pray. I did not know that before I got this job.

This makes things difficult... I didn't know they were religious. Now we have to alert the inquisition... that's too much scroll-work!

I love cloakers! I always thought it would be neat to form a bond with one.

You made them look extremely cool and creepy in this batlike pose, I love all the rib details and their whole overall shape! The idol is really fascinating too.

Thank you! Isn't it wierd that Cloakers are religious? I never knew. They also have a thing for the color yellow. Everything in my art briefs on this was all about the yellow.

Yeah...they started out as just a cloak-mimicing novelty monster and slowly expanded into a Lovecraftian society, much like the Grell!

This is such a creepy scene. The sickly green hue to everything is great. :)

Thanks! Yeah... who knew cloakers prayed? Very strange. The brief I had to follow made the relgion seem very strange and creepy and mysterious. Vaguely Lovecraftian, so...yeah, creepy.

Before I saw the symbols on the wall, I thought they'd painted the Yellow Sign of Hastur on their backs!
