Mimic for Paizo Publishing by MichaelJaecks Mimic for Paizo Publishing by MichaelJaecks
This is an interior illustration for Paizo Publishing's "Dungeon Denizens Revisted." This is, I believe, a young mimic reveal its true, slimy, sticky nature.

I recently read up on mimics, this actually a example of a mimic that attempted human mimicry and failed. They all have this dream they will one day become human, but any mimic that attempts it fails because they're naturally materialistic minds can't comprehend human nature and they suffer a mental and a malicular breakdown. Kind of like in full metal alchemist when they try to bring a human back to life.

Wow, it's so rare that mimics are drawn without them actually mimicking something...but they've got to have a "default" or "relaxed" look of some sort, and this really looks awesome!

Thanks! It is a little wierd to see them this way, isnt it? Actually I think from the text, this is actually a young Mimic... perhaps an infant, before it can fully form into something? I'd have to go back and reread it to be sure.

It was a good project and fun reimagining these old school monsters.
